School Counseling

Every school provides guidance and counseling services to all students. Read 324P - School Guidance and Counseling Programs.

Mission

We are dedicated to helping students:

  • find success in all aspects of their high school experience
  • stretch themselves academically
  • prepare for their future educational and career pursuits
  • develop good decision-making skills that will last a lifetime

Counselor Assignments

A counselor is assigned to each student to help him/her address the academic, career, and personal needs of adolescence.

  • Dual Enrollment - Information, tuition fees and forms for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.
  • Local Scholarship Form - Complete the Local Scholarship Form by March 15, 2024, to apply for JWHS local scholarships.
  • Scholarships for Seniors - Learn more about scholarship opportunities for seniors.
  • Scholarships and Programs for Underclassmen - Learn more about scholarship opportunities for underclassmen.
  • College/Military Visits - Representatives from colleges, trade schools, branches of the military, etc. visit our school to provide information and answer student questions.

  • Senior Email Sign Up for Parents - receive weekly emails on scholarships, college visits, etc. 
  • Student Scholastic Records Access Roster - School officials who may access student records without prior authorization.
  • Financial Aid - Learn more about student aid and find helpful resources.
  • Transfer Virginia  - Transfer Virginia is an initiative to provide transparency and access throughout the college transfer process.  Through the Transfer Virginia portal, we strive to provide consistent and current information from all partner institutions.  You can research, plan, and organize your transfer journey using the information and resources available within this portal from Virginia institutions.

Need to see your Counselor?

Use the Student Request Form to request to see your School Counselor. They will send a pass when they are available to speak with you.

Transcripts

Scribbles K-12 transfer

Seniors who need transcripts will need to see Mrs. Hahn in order to get a Transcript Release Form. Seniors under 17 will need to get a parent's signature before returning it to Mrs. Hahn. Students and parents can then request transcripts through Scribbles.
